We rushed to the neighbors the night you were born. Your black body was
such a contrast against the nearly white of your mother. Several weeks later,
after we put Jet's mom down, we bought you as a companion for her. The two
of you grew up quickly. We watched your black turn to dapple grey and then
to flea-bitten just like your mom.
We will never forget your quirky little behavior, like the times you anticipated
something bad happening. You would put your nose to the corner of your stall
as if you were hiding. You reminded us of an ostrich. You were stubborn at
times but so sweet when you wanted to be. You were always so skittish - jumping
at the slightest of movement, but you were oh-so careful and patient when
the grandkids were near.
We are so sorry you got sick and sorry we could not make you better. There
will always be a place in our barn and in our hearts for you. We miss you,
Bluesy Girl.
