I met Teddy when I was just finishing up sixth grade. I was having a hard time in middle school, and I was becoming increasingly frustrated with riding, since I didn't really have a horse to ride.
Teddy was abused and terrified when I first met him, and it took me weeks to get him to let me feed him from my hand. We were inseparable from the first touch of his velvety nose. When I started riding him, I really worked hard to improve my riding, and I got to the point where I was confident and had full trust in Teddy.
Two years later, in 2005, I went ahead and retired him since he was becoming more and more unsound. In August, 2006, I moved Teddy from the barn to a farm where he was allowed to roam and do whatever he pleased. This was his retirement home.
On March 14, 2008, I found that Teddy had been diagnosed with cancer. We had him put down on December 18, 2008.
Teddy might not have been the prettiest horse or the best horse I've ever ridden, but he was the horse of a lifetime. I love him so much and it completely broke my heart when he passed.
I love Teddy.
